This report on Get Surrey (Surrey Live) could be interesting for many readers.

As people's life expectancy increases due to improvements in the health of the population in many western nations, there is increasing concern about dementia (from Alzheimers and other conditions). Various studies have shown preventative properties from:

  • A balanced diet rich in healthy fats,
  • Statins (a class of cholesterol reducing drugs prescribed for people at risk of heart disease),
  • And Metformin (a drug used to treat people with Type 2 Diabetes).

The report linked above describes how supplements of vitamin D also offer protection. We don't yet know how to cure dementia, or even if it can be cured, but at least there are ways to reduce one risk.
